Harvest season was nearly over and the
leaves were changing color. Yet this
peach tree on the side of the road still
had ripe fruit. With the light hitting the fruit
and leaves, it was a beautiful sight and I
was eager to paint it. I went back to visit
the spot this year, and sadly, the tree is
no longer there. I am so glad that I
painted it when I did!
Luckily I neglected the garden one
season because I left this
Artichoke to bloom into this
stunning flower. The morning I
found it, the sun was hitting the
top, creating a magnificent glow of
color. I had to capture the moment
in a painting.
I was thrilled with the bright red stalks,
glowing as the sunlight was behind
them. I also wanted to capture the texture
and curl of the leaves, so varied in their
coloring.

Another of my garden beauties, I enjoy
painting vegetables and fruit while they are
still growing on the tree or vine. It is easier to
capture their energy on canvas while they
are still living and growing.

I always try to paint flowers and vegetables
while they are still alive and growing
because they have an energy that can't be
captured once they are cut. I love the lines
and movement in both the pumpkin and
the leaves.
