These geraniums were growing on my
deck, and the sunlight was shining
down on the brilliant red flowers. This
painting was done in the classic
(indirect) style of the Masters. First, a
greyscale (Grissaille) painting was
done, and after drying, a transparent
glaze of color was applied.

Dahlias are among my favorite flowers.
They have such a presence, and I love
the sense of movement one gets from
the shape of the petals.
It was great fun to paint these
holyhocks with an up-close view.
The variations in color and the
lacy ridges make it a fascinating
flower.
My mother gave me these Lillies one
Easter. I tried to capture the boldness of
the flowers by painting them quite large
with a dark, dramatic background.

I painted this vase of flowers in a loose,
impressionistic style to capture the
essence of the "starting to wilt" sunflower
with all it's grace. The diagonal pink and
purple flowers add interest to the
composition.

Floral
These orange flowers against a
complimentary blue background make a
bold, dramatic statement
Oriental Lillies... their pink petals dotted
with red. These flowers, to me, are
striking and mysterious and a delight to
paint.

Heaven On Earth is an apt name for this
breathtaking Rose. I enjoy waiting for
these roses to bloom in my garden each
year and when they do I can't resist
painting them!
These beautiful Waterlillies were in a
fountain at San Juan Capistrano Mission.
The flowers, fish, reflections and
shadows worked together to create a
meditative feeling of quietness and
peace.
On a trip to Ireland  I saw these gorgeous
Hollyhocks growing at Bunratty Castle. It was
great fun to paint their vibrant colors and try to
capture the energy they exude.
To me this was an irresistible grouping of
beautiful Dahlias and I painted it on-site on a
beautiful Autumn day.
