This is a pastel painting of a typical Arabic
coffee pot. I love the interesting shape and the
shiny brass of the old pot.
These two paintings depict a traditional dance that is done in the United Arab Emirates.
Young girls with long hair swirl their hair and dance to the local music. It is a fantastic
sight, with the glittering, colorful gowns they wear.
On a recent trip to the United
Arab Emirates, I fell in love with
this scene in Dubai. It was so
relaxing... the sun hitting the
leaves and water, making
everything sparkle as the boat
with its colorful shade added to
the exotic feel of the place.
I found this lovely little scene down an
alley on the island of Hydra. It is such a
wonderful little spot, typical of the island
colors of blue and white.

On the island of Hydra in Greece I saw
this door with these adorable little cats
curled up, so contentedly in front. This
door faces the ocean and these cats
must enjoy watching the fishing boats
come to shore all day.

This is a lovely old door I saw in Athens,
Greece. I love the scroll work at the top.
Here is another Hydra door. I was
attracted to the apparent age of the door
and the layers of blue and white paint
around it.
When I went to the UAE in 1981 there
were still neighborhoods with old-style
houses such as this one. Today, it is a
modern, bustling country, but there is an
area in Sharjah where the old
neighborhoods have been preserved.
This is a painting of a house in one of
those areas.
While walking through the
National Gardens in Athens,
Greece, the sky turned gray
and cloudy as I came upon
this dramatic statue. I was
struck by the light that was
glowing behind the statue
as well as the bits of blue
peeking through the dark
clouds.
